Abbree ST-20 Review – The Little Whip That Could

The Abbree ST20 isn’t just a conversation starter because of its lime green, orange or black finish…it’s a compact, well tuned dual band antenna that seriously holds its own on 2 meters.

I grabbed one for my HT rig and didn’t expect much. But after a week of use, I’m sold.

Why it works?

Because it’s actually tuned for the 2-meter band.

Unlike some generic rubber ducks, this thing holds SWR well under 1.5, with solid field strength readings on 144–148 MHz. I ran 5 watts through it and checked performance with an external meter...no loss, no heat, just clean TX/RX.

And at only 7cm long, it’s small enough to never snag on gear or clothing, even on hikes or in a car.

What makes it special?

2m/70cm tuned for amateur use

Excellent SWR (1.2–1.5 on 2m, tested)

Compact 2.75" whip, its tough, flexible and zero poke

SMA-Female connector (perfect for my Baofeng, BTech, Quan Sheng, etc.)

Lime green, orange, red etc finish – easy to find, adds visibility

Handles up to 10W power, perfect for HTs and mobile field kits

The build quality is great. It’s soft rubber, with a proper sealed base, and the color makes it easy to grab from a pack without digging around.

I’ve used mine for:

2m simplex over 3–5 miles (clean signal reports at 5W)

Local repeater check-ins

Quick field deployments when I don’t want a long antenna sticking out

Testing against longer whips (this one held up very well)

Throw-in-the-bag daily use…compact, durable, and doesn’t stab you

What I recommend:

Use this as your daily HT antenna for 2m/70cm

Pair it with a field SWR meter to confirm your sweet spot

Keep one in your kit or car as a backup or trail antenna

Use it with any SMA-Female HT (UV-5R, UV-82, BF-F8, KG-UV8, etc.)

Final take:

The Abbree ST-20 Lime Green antenna surprised me. It’s tuned well, handles 2m/70cm with ease, and looks slick while doing it. The SWR is legit, field strength is solid, and it just works...especially if you value compactness and durability.

If you’re looking for a solid, no fuss antenna for everyday HT use, this one is worth grabbing imo.
